Doing the Will of the Father is True worship
The True Worship Part II
The
two key ingredients for True worship are that one has to worship in truth and
in Spirt. What is the truth? Truth is God’s Will. God’s Will is Truth. Many of
us do not know God’s will and therefore do not know what the truth is. If Jesus
were to tell us, 'know the Truth', each one of us will certainly echo the words
of Pilate as to what the truth is. (Jn. 18)
God’s Universal Will
When
Jesus said, I have come to witness to the truth, the jesting Pilate retorted
what the truth is? In John Chapter 8 Jesus clearly stated, 'know the truth and
the truth will set you free'. But like Pilate, we all question what truth is?
Jesus is the truth. He said, 'I am the truth'. He is God’s will for the
salvation of humanity. If one believes in Him completely, then one is surely
saved. 'So, it is not
the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should
perish'.
This is what we
call God’s Universal Will and everyone is included in this salvation plan.
Soul to Soul Relationship
Jesus
in Mathew chapter 7 says, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter
the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is
in heaven". Jesus the truth reveals another truth and a mystery as to how to
enter heaven. He
says that it is only by doing God’s will. Therefore, true prayer is to commune
with God and that commune happens only by an intimate relationship with Jesus
or God the Father. And the relationship happens only when one aligns and lives
out one’s life according to the Will of God. It is also called Soul to Soul
relationship.
Gear Up to do the Will of God
What
does one have to do to gear up for the Will of God? St Paul answers this
question.
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of
God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to
God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able
to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Rom
12:1-2
Offer your bodies as a living
sacrifice
First,
he says, offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this
is your true and proper worship. Why the body as a living sacrifice? Sacrifice is part of worship.
God does not want to communicate with the flesh and the blood. For what is of the flesh and the blood
are nothing more than the flesh and the blood. It does not understand the
Spirit. God being a Spirit himself, communicates only to the Spirit. This could be the main reason why most of us do not get to hear
the voice of the Lord. Eventually finding it difficult to discern the Will of
God.
Have a Spirit Fit Body
If
a man wants to climb the mountain like Moses or Elijah, he should have a
mountain fit body. If a man wants to live in a forest, he should have a forest
fit body. If one wants to live in a desert, like John the Baptist, one should
have a desert fit body. Likewise, if one wants to enjoy the world of the Spirit of God,
then it is necessary to have a Spirit fit body, where the Spirit is the Master
and the body is a servant. The Spirit reigns and rules the body and the body
takes the order and obeys the Spirit. When the Spirit is in complete control,
then it is called Spirit fit body. This is the primary purpose of the
body.
Jesus
offered his body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God not only on
the altar of Calvary but in everyday sufferings. The ultimate holocaust on the altar of
Calvary for the atonement of sins of the humankind was possible only because he
practiced sacrifice every day which is the true worship. A great many saints
mortified their body by grinding it in the mills of different kinds of
suffering so that the Spirit in them emerged out to rule the body. Because God
does not speak to the flesh. The flesh understands neither Spiritual mysteries
nor the Will of God.
Heb
10-5,7Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering
you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; Then, I said, ‘here I am,
it is written about Me in the scroll: I have come to do Your will, O God.’”… And by that will, we have
been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Renew Your Mind to Discern the
Will
Second,
he says, discern the will of God by renewing your mind. Our mind is not yet
ready for higher-level interaction with Heaven. It is filled with old
traditional ideas, indigested philosophies and theologies and human teachings
that has no life in itself. These cobwebs should be done and dusted so that the
Spirit is ready to communicate new things with us. Remember two people who
communicated well with the Father are Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
True Worship
We
are aware that Jesus is inside us. Jesus the truth is in us. We also know that
the Holy Spirit dwells in us. If we follow the basic principle of the desert
man John the Baptist, 'He must increase; I must decrease 3:30, well Jesus and
the Holy Spirit will emerge out of us to communicate with the Father, which is
the true worship. For both of them knew what the Will of God is. This is true
worship. He who has ears to hear let him hear.
