True Worship IV

Relationship Vs Prayer Without a relationship with God all prayers recited are lip service and idol worship. When one enters into a relationship with God, one becomes a transformed person inside out. One’s behaviour changes. Speech changes. Thought process changes. One becomes a new creation for the relationship causes the changes. Love is Worship God believes in a relationship. The very first and foremost commandment without any ambiguity commands us, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Matt 22:37.  It does not say worship the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. For, love itself is the highest and the ultimate and the complete form of worship. Let us visualise the scene in the Garden of Eden. God and Adam were walking in the garden in the cool of the day. It was customary I believe. Adam did not kneel down and chanted a litany or sang a hymn. Thanks Heaven there was n...

True Worship Part III

Love and Adoration In the last blog we have seen that the true worship is doing the will of God. In order to kow the will of the Father, one has to develop a true and genuine relatiohsip with God. Admire him with reverance.  "O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth" (KJV).  Worship, in general, has two factors: Reverence that is love and Adoration. Adoration means experiencing the love of God with a wow feeling. In most of our prayers, we miss out this wow feeling because our soul is very dry and parched and devoid of love. Without love, there is no worship at all.  Worship is part of Love In Mark 12: 28-33 One of the teachers of the law asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘ Hear, O my people, The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all you...

Doing the Will of the Father is True worship

Image
The True Worship Part II   The two key ingredients for True worship are that one has to worship in truth and in Spirt. What is the truth? Truth is God’s Will. God’s Will is Truth. Many of us do not know God’s will and therefore do not know what the truth is. If Jesus were to tell us, 'know the Truth', each one of us will certainly echo the words of Pilate as to what the truth is. (Jn. 18) God’s Universal Will When Jesus said, I have come to witness to the truth, the jesting Pilate retorted what the truth is? In John Chapter 8 Jesus clearly stated, 'know the truth and the truth will set you free'. But like Pilate, we all question what truth is? Jesus is the truth. He said, 'I am the truth'. He is God’s will for the salvation of humanity. If one believes in Him completely, then one is surely saved. 'So, it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish'. This is what we call God’s Universal Will and e...

True Worship Part I

Ture worship Definition by Jesus In order to understand the idol worship in its perspective, one should understand the meaning of True Worship. Jesus unequivocally has given a definition for true worship: One worships in spirit and in truth. Unlike other Gospel authors, John captured the essence of the conversation between Jesus and a certain woman at the well. John 4:23-24 reads “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” Be Born Again It clearly says the true worshipers worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth. In preparation to worship God in Truth and in Spirit, one has to be born again in Water and in Spirit. John the Baptist testified and prophesied that he baptised with water for repentance, but Jesus would baptise with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matt 3:11. H...

What is idol worship?

Image
Idol worship "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.” It says you shall not make idol at all. And enjoined by another strong statement of “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,” The above verses are part of the First Commandment and forbids idol worship. Let us reflect on the idol worship in its perspective. Idol worship has two parts. One is Idol and the second one is about worship. We will discuss more on worship in the next session. Let us understand the definition of an idol in the background of the Old Testament. Creating God in Man’ imagination No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known. John1:14 . No one has seen God. For, ...

Crack the mystery of I am who I am.

Image
Crack the mystery of I am who I am. “Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery?” I am who I am is the one who brought the Israel out of Egypt. God reveals Himself to the people of Israel by action. Before He spoke the words of love He acted. He liberated them from the slavery of Pharaoh, the foreshadow event of, later Jesus sets himself to liberate the whole humanity from the clutches of Satan. God led them out of Egypt which was the  sign  that Jesus would lead people out of Sin. Moses was appointed by God to lead and guide them to the Promised Land. And the new Moses, Jesus is appointed even before the foundation of the world to lead people to the New Jerusalem.  “I am the Lord your God” and it adds “Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. Oh! God really says that just now! And from Egypt, He is bringing you out, towards the Promised Land, which is, but Heaven! The eternal Kingdom of the Lord, where...

Who is this One God?

Image
Who is this One God? There is only one God. Most of the major religions like Judaism, Islam and Christianity believe in and promote monotheism. The above said three Abrahamic religion easily fits into monotheistic religion and call themselves Children of One Father. These religions which form the major sections of the world population promote the worship of one God and while denying the existence of other gods. There are around 4300 religion in the world and each one has its own understanding about the existence of God. This one God is everywhere The commandment is intended to give man Grace and Life. In the Ten Commandments, the first word of the Father and Lord is this: “I am the Lord Your God.” There is not one instant of the day in which this word is not uttered by the voice of God and is not written by His finger. Where? Everywhere. It is repeated continuously by everything. By grass and stars, by water and fire, by wool and food, by light and darkness, by health and illne...

“I am the Lord your God,

Commandment 1 The Ten Commandments are a summary of “the conditions of life to be free from the slavery of sin”. They must be understood in relation to the “law of love”: Love of God and love of neighbour summarizes all of Christian morality. The law of love is also the first principle and source of moral law. It contains “all the law and the prophets” (Mt 22:40). It is a description of the minimum that love requires. Christian life itself requires much more than simply following the Ten Commandments. Key Strands The first commandment has three key elements that need focus  1. I am the Lord your God  2. I am the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3. You shall have no other gods before Me. This could be capsuled in three R. God Relates   • There is a solemnity about this statement where God declares, 'I am the Lord' In this statement God relates to his people. He says, 'I am your God'. God owns His people. This...

Breaking the Commandments is breaking your life.

Image
Don’t break the Commandments Commandments are not mere suggestions given by God so that Man has an option to choose to abide by it or not. It is called Commandments. It means an order by God. The Commandments are binding on all. Adhering to the commandments brings divine blessings and disobeying the commandments is a gateway to hell. Obeying and disobeying both have their consequences. The former brings reward and blessing while the latter curse and peril. Hence, let us not trade our spiritual integrity for short time temporal pleasures and gains. By practising the Ten Commandments we become sharper to distinguish right from wrong and good from evil. The Bible has signs and symbols. When Man sins, he breaks the commandments. One of the signs we can easily notice ...
